The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy was
founded in 1949 in Košice, second biggest city in Slovakia. The University and its departments, institutes and clinics are offering a broad education background to international students to study in accredited study programmes at all three levels of university education (bachelor, master and doctoral level).
The University has about 2,200 students (both Slovak and international) in all of the three levels of higher education, both in full‑time and part‑time forms. Over 200 of these students are international students studying inEnglish language the General Veterinary Medicine study programme. The University offers its students a high level of practical preparation, and permanent diagnostic and medical contact with animals on its clinics, university farm, special breeding centre, equestrian centre and animal, fish and bee diseases centre.
