Charles University
Charles University is the oldest and most prestigious university in the Czech Republic. University is well-known around the world since it is founded by a charter issued on 7th of April 1348 by Charles IV. When establishing University, a model of Bolognas and Paris universities was followed. In the beginning, it had 4 faculties: theological, liberal arts, law and medicine. Charles University has been always a centre of Czech intelligence and also centre against suppressing forces in Czech society. Students from Charles university lead demonstration against a totalitarian regime, which ceased to exist in 1989. Nowadays, Charles University is place with modern university life, involved in plenty of international cooperations and is playing an important role in a broad specrtum of European and global programmes.
There are 17 faculties, 3 university institutes, 6 other units and 5 service facilities at University. In total, there are 8074 employees of University – 4653 people form academic and research staff and 3421 is other staff.
University is ranked in TOP 2% of the approximatelly 18,000 institutions of higher institutions in the world. According to QS ranking, Charles was 279th best university in the world and according to Academic Ranking of World universities, it was among 201-300 best universities in the world.
About Third Faculty of medicine
The teaching basis of the 3. LF includes the Faculty Hospital Královské Vinohrady, Psychiatric Centre Praha, Hospital Na Bulovce, Thomayer Hospital, Institute for Mother and Child Care, Hospital Na Homolce, Central Military Hospital and The National Institute of Public Health. Prominent experts of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine also participate in the teaching.
The Third Faculty of Medicine has a high percentage of international students.
All admitted students shall attend 10 days intensive Czech language course in September 2018.
Recognition in EU and Iran
Degree from the Third Faculty of Medicine is internationally recognised in European Union and Iran. The Faculty is placed on FAIMER list of educational institution.

STUDY PROGRAM General medicine
General medicine at Third Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague is an undergraduate full-time study programme, that takes 6 years. Graduates are awarded degree MUDr. (Medicinae Universae Doctor).
There are maximum 65 students admitted.
English program is offered from academic year 1991/1992.
The 3rd Faculty of Medicine conferred its teaching degrees to many outstanding personalities: Prof. Zdeněk Neubauer in biology, Doc. Ivan M. Havel in artificial intelligence, and Prof. Luboslav Stárka in endocrinology. At the same time, several dozens of lectures by well–known foreign specialists took place on the precincts of the Faculty: the Nobel Prize winner in neurophysiology Prof. J. Eccles, famous specialist in psychiatry Prof. P. Grof, and daseins-analytic Prof. Condrau. As proposed by the Scientific Council of Faculty, Sir Karl Raimund Popper (1902–1996), epistemologist, open society proponent, one of the greatest philosophers of the twentieth century, was awarded the degree of doctor honoris causa in medicine on 25 May 1994.
Semester is divided into 5 week modules. Students go to hospitals in the second month of their studies.
Tuition fees and related costs
Tuition fee for one study year is 330.000 CZK and is payable until end of August.
Living costs in Prague
Living costs for Prague are higher in comparison with other cities in Czech Republic. Minimum living costs are around 300€ per month, more realistic estimation is 500€ per month (11 EUR/ month is public transportation, meals in canteens start from 3 5 EUR per meal, accommodation starts from 150-200€ per month).
Entrance exam
There is an entrance examination, consisting of two parts. The first one incorporates a multiple-choice test (30 questions for each subject) in Chemistry, Biology and third test you can choose between Physics and Mathematics.
In case of succeeding through the written exam, the applicant will proceed to the second part – the interview.
The second part is composed of an interview with an interpretation of an unfamiliar section of a scientific article and conversation focused on motivation and general knowledge of the student.
An application fee is 640 Kč.

There is one main date and one alternative – this can be used only if you are not able to attend the regular one:
31st of May 2019 – deadline is 31st of March 2019
Alternative date: 2nd of July 2019 (you cannot register for this date – only if you are not able to attend standard date from serious reasons)
