About Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun

The Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (NCU) was founded in 1945. It is one of the largest universities in Poland, currently comprising 17 faculties (including 3 medical faculties at Collegium Medicum UMK in Bydgoszcz). It provides graduate and postgraduate courses for almost 25 000 students, offering education in over 100 fields of study and 65 postgraduate courses. The university employs 4039 staff on both Toruń and Bydgoszcz campuses, over half of whom are academic teachers. NCU alumni now number around 200 000.

The university participates in student and staff exchange programs at both international (the Erasmus+ program) and national (the MOST program) levels. It develops studies in cooperation with universities abroad and is currently collaborating with the universities in Angers (economics) and Moscow (history).

This has contributed to the Nicolaus Copernicus University’s position as one of the five best universities in Poland and it is also the reason why QS World University Ranking has placed NCU in the top 4% of universities in the world.

About Collegium Technicum in Torun

Collegium Medicum currently holds ten accreditations:

  • 7 accreditations issued by the Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA): biotechnology, laboratory medicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy, medicine, nursing, public health;
  • 2 accreditations issued by the National Accreditation Commission for Nursing and Midwifery Education (KRASzPiP): midwifery, nursing;
  • 1 accreditation issued by the Polish Ministry of Health: specialisation in retail pharmacy.

Where is Torun located?

City of Torun is located in Northern Poland is the birthplace of the greatest and famous Nicolaus Copernicus. In the Middle Ages Toruń was a prominent trade centre as a member of the Hanseatic League; in Poland is called ‘Krakow of the North’. Toruń is the most Gothic urban complex in Poland, one of the most important and crowded tourist centres of unique value, right after Krakow the second richest of original and best preserved historical monuments city in Poland. Numerous museums and other attractions.

STUDY PROGRAM General medicine

Medical Program in English in Torun is based on the plan of study for Polish students and all subjects are taught in English. The solid theoretical and practical background, as well as academic knowledge gained during lectures and clinical classes, allow our students to choose their future specialization according to their skills and abilities.

Cost: 45 000 PLN /per year + 2 000 PLN guarantee fee
Clinical base: Dr Antoni Jurasz University Hospital No.1 in Bydgoszcz and Dr Jan Biziel University Hospital No. 2 in Bydgoszcz function at Collegium Medicum as the base for educating, carrying out scientific research and providing highly specialized diagnostic, medical and rehabilitation services. Studies at Collegium Medicum UMK in Bydgoszcz allow you to become familiar with modern technologies and use the latest medical equipment.

Tuition fees and related costs

Tuition fees for a program of General medicine in English is 45000 PLN – it can be paid in 2 instalments.

Additionally, newly admitted students must pay PLN 2 000 for the obligatory one-month preparatory course organised in September.

Admission process

Students must present following documents: application form, superlegalised secondary-school certificate, health certificate and vaccinnation records. Secondary school record must contain result in grades in Biology and one out of two school subjects: Chemistry, Physics.

Language certificate is also required.
