About Medical University of Lodz

The Medical University of Lodz is the largest public medical university in Poland. In the area of Science and Research, the Medical University of Lodz is known as one of the leading medical research centres in Poland. Every year over a hundred research grants are awarded for individual research projects.
MUL consists of 5 faculties and Division of studies in English.
The Medical University of Lodz has 180 professors, 180 associate professors and 850 PhD academics. There are 8800 students in total (from which 600 students are foreigners). MUL cooperates with 3 teaching hospitals in Lodz.

About Faculty of medicine in Lodz

The teaching of international students started in 2003/2004. Nowadays, there are around 600 international students enrolled at University and 400 have already graduated.

Recognition in EU and Iran

The medical university of Lodz is recognised in European Union and Iran.

The Medical University of Lodz is listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) which provides information about international medical schools that are recognized by the appropriate government agencies in the countries in which they are located.
In Poland  it is the  Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Our University is also listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools with an ECFMG® Sponsor Note. For the graduation years indicated in the Sponsor Note, our students and graduates are eligible to apply to ECFMG for ECFMG Certification and USMLE® as a step towards ECFMG Certification.

Where is Lodz located?

Lodz is the third largest urban centre in Poland with a population of about 742,000. The city is thriving with industry and business rapidly developing, moving away from textiles, which has been in decline since 1991. It is located in the very centre of Poland and still remains particularly favourable for the development of trade. Lodź is also sometimes known as the Polish Manchester due to its size and the fame of the textile industry that developed there in the 19th century.

STUDY PROGRAM General medicine

6-years program of general medicine is completely taught in English. It is designed for high school graduates. In total, there are 3 years of preclinical subjects (anatomy, medical chemistry, biology, biophysics, physiology, histology and cell biology, microbiology, pathomorphology, pharmacology and others) and 3years of clinical subjects (internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, radiology, family medicine, neurology, oncology & palliative care, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, infectious diseases and others.). Graduates are awarded degree of Lekarz (MD). Students must have completed 1 year of internship (in Poland or abroad) and pass Physicians Final Examination.

STUDY PROGRAM Dental medicine

Dentistry program is designed for high school/secondary school graduates. Program is  based on requirements which are obligatory for the Polish medical higher education institutions and is adequate to EU standards.

The Dentistry Teaching Center is equipped with new generation dental and phantom units placing the MUL center among the top quality medical education centers in Europe.

The program takes 5 years.

Tuition fees and related costs

The application fee is 120€ and is non-refundable.

6-year General medicine program
11.200 EUR for the1st year
11.000 EUR/year for years from the 2nd to the 6th

5-year DMD program
13.200 EUR for the 1st year
13.000 EUR/year for years from the 2nd to the 5th

After Letter of Acceptance is issued, a student wishing to study at MUL must pay 200€ admission fee. Price of dormitories is around 500 PLN per month.
The good news is, that students do not need to buy costly books since they get access to the University library. In addition, they obtain Student ID card, which save them plenty of money .

Entrance exam

The whole admission process is online. Students need to comply with admission criteria and Skype interview exam (during Skype interview, an applicant is asked questions from Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics).

English certificate is big plus CAE, CPE, TOEFL IBT (minimum 75 points), IELTS (min 6.0 points) – if you do not have any of them, there will be English interview on Skype to confirm your level of knowledge.

You will be notified about the exam result by the Admission Team via e-mail.

After passing all requirements, there is Letter of Acceptance issued. In the next step, an applicant must submit original, legalised leaving certificates that entitle him/her to study abroad together with original of application documents.
There is only one intake in Fall.
